Alappuzha Beach : Alleppey District

Alappuzha beach is a popular tourist spot.The pier, which extends into the sea here, is around 140 years old. Blessed with nature's green beauties such as lagoons, vast lakes and numerous fresh water rivers, Alappuzha is a natural wonderland of Kerala state. It has a long sandy beach.

Bekal Beach : Kasargod District

Bekal beach glorifies the Bekal fort, the largest and the best preserved fort in kerala. It lies in the district of Kasargod. This fort stands on a promontory between two long classically beautiful palm fringed beaches.

Beypore Beach : Kozhikode District

10 km south of Kozhikode and located at the mouth of chaliyar river, beypore is one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient kerala. It was an important trade and maritime centre. Ancient beypore was much sought after by merchants from western asia, for its ship building industry. The boat building yard here is famous for the construction of the uru, the traditional arabian trading vessel.

Cherai Beach : Ernakulam District

45 kms from Ernakulam city, this lovely beach bordering Vypeen island is ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. A typical kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction.

Ezhimala Beach : Kannur District

55 km from Kannur is Ezhimala, which has fascinating scultured stone pillars scattered all over the beach. Buddha is believed to have visited the place which has seen many historical events of North Kerala in the 11th century.
The hills are noted for rare medicinal herbs. A naval academy is being developed here. Permission is required for entry.

Dharmadam Beach : Kannur District

Dharmadam beach is on the island with the same name. However, the island is privately-owned and permission is required to visit the place. Located 17 km from Kannur town, the beach has a five acre stretch of coconut palms and green bushes.

Fort Kochi Beach : Ernakulam District

12 kms from ernakulam city, a leisurely walk through the lanes of the city is the best way to discover historic fort kochi. An obscure fishing village that became the first european township in india, kochi has an eventful and colourful history. The town was shaped by the portuguese, the dutch and later the british. The result of these cultural interfaces are seen in the remains of the indo european architecture here.

Kappad Beach: Kozhikode District

16 kms from Kozhikode (Calicut), this is the historic beach where Vasco-da-Gama landed on the 27th of May 1498, with 170 men in three vessels. A monument on the beach commemorates this historic event. The rock studded beach is locally known as Kappakadavu. An interesting feature of the landscape is the sprawling rock that protrudes into the sea. The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old.

Kappil Beach : Kasargod District

For those who prefer Thoreau to Harold Robbins, the secluded and relatively unexplored Kappil Beach in the district of Kasargod should prove idyllic. This sun-drenched beach is a perfect getaway after a hectic tour of the nearby Bekal Fort, some six kms away.

Adventurous souls can even ascend the nearby Kodi cliff to get a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea.

11 kms from kannur, this beautiful stretch of sand is one of the most secluded beaches in kerala.

Kovalam Beach : Trivandrum District

Located 16 km south of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) city, Kovalam is a world-famous beach resort, which has been a favorite spot for tourists since 1930s. This beach has lovely coconut palms fringe the golden sands.

Marari Beach (Mararikulam) : Ernakulam District

Pallikere Beach : Kasargod District

The Pallikere beach, which is a beautiful expanse of shallow waters and beach is fast developing as a tourist destination. Providing ample scope for recreation and relaxation, the beach affords a scenic view of the Bekal Fort.

Payyambalam Beach : Kannur District

2 kms from kannur this beach is a local picnic spot. The beach has a well laid-out garden and a massive landscaped sculpture of mother and child erected by noted sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman.

Sanghumugham beach :Trivandrum District

8 kilometers away from the city, abutting Thiruvananthapuram airport and Veli tourist village. This is the ideal spot for watching the sunset.

Somatheeram Beach : Trivandrum District

Located roughly 6km north of Kollam, Thirumullavaram is a beautiful beach that's very well connected by road and offers good facilities. This beautiful beach filled with coconut palms is ideal for an early morning walk and has good bathing facilities

Vallikunnu Beach : Malapuram District

A beach resort set in the middle of a coconut grove is the main attraction here. The kadalundi bird sanctuary is just a short distance away.

 

Kolavipalam Beach : Kozhikode District

Payyoli-Kolavipalam beach also known as the 'Turtle Beach' is located south of the Murad river. This beach is at a distance of 4 km from Kottakkal.The turtles that frequent the beach are no ordinary turtle, these are the famous Olive Ridley turtles. The turtle season is in September.
